Question: I would like to test Smartstore on an Apple MacBook or desktop. Is this possible?
Answer: Yes, you need a Windows environment on your Mac, e.g. from Parallels.
Alternatively you can install Windows with the free Apple tool Bootcamp.

Then you can install our software in Windows.
Everything else runs exactly as on the original Windows PC:
The easiest way is to use the Microsoft-Tool „Web Platform Installer“: https://www.microsoft.com/web/downloads/platform.aspx
(Do not use the Microsoft Web App Gallery, it has not worked for months).
Download, install and launch the "Web Platform Installer" in Windows.
Then search for "Smartstore" in the "Web Platform Installer" with the search input in the upper right corner, click on "Install Smartstore (English)" in the search result list, and everything else runs more or less automatically.
The tool loads Smartstore and all the Microsoft software Smartstore needs and installs these software packages for you step by step.
Very important: You may need to set a database administrator password for the Microsoft SQL server during the SQL server installation, write it down carefully for later use, and enter it later when you install Smartstore. You will not be able to install the store software without a correct SQL admin password.
