Even two months after the opening ceremony of the first bk World in Endsee, the enthusiasm about the “filling station of the future” is not fading. While 20 Tesla Superchargers shorten the charging time for e-cars, the climate-positive stay louge is still convincing in every aspect. Over its lifetime, the bk World offsets more CO2 than it consumes.
The unique concept of electrical sustainability
The individual boxes obtain a large part of the energy they use from their own solar panels on the roofs. Several boxes can be placed side by side to create even larger complexes away from the store and can be used in a variety of ways. In addition to modern sanitary facilities, the individual Qubes also hcome with free WLAN, a gaming area, office areas that can be reserved, and meeting rooms.
In the so-called Qubes, visitors can also choose from a regional and sustainable range of food instead of the usual fast food at rest stops. If you disregard the single vending machine on the forecourt, which prepares fresh pizza in about four minutes. The sale on site runs without any staff at all.
The store system used is being supplied by SmartStore
Unlike the classic stay options, you can access the bk world via a QR code. This requires registration in the online store. After scanning the QR code, visitors to the bk World can enter the personal- and cashless shopping world, powered by Smartstore.

This contains several coolers for healthy snacks and drinks, a coffee machine, and lockers for other travel items, such as neck pillows, powerbanks, and headphones. After selecting the desired products, the order is processed via the store system. Here, payment is made by EC bank card or the smartphone. In the latter case, a QR code is again displayed on the bk world displays, which visitors can scan and then pay via PayPal, direct debit or their credit card. Once the purchase has been successfully completed, the corresponding goods can be accepted. Weight sensors in the refrigerators check the number of goods removed in real time, providing additional protection against theft.
Never before has shopping on the go been so far ahead of its time, uncomplicated and fast.
“For me, bk World is my biggest project. We use it to make e-mobility tangible, palpable and thus an extraordinary experience. If the mobility revolution is to succeed, we need innovative concepts like bk World. And committed doers who don’t wait for the state, but take action themselves,” explains bk World Founder Gerold Wolfarth.
“It is impressive to see what the bk Group AG and its partners have set up in just a few months. I was able to see the concept for myself on site and I am proud that Smartstore is part of a future-oriented and sustainable project of this magnitude,” praises Pavlos Tsulfaidis, CEO and Founder of SmartStore AG.
The revolution of regional retail
After the opening of the first bk World in Endsee, the end of this venture is still a long way off. Expected sales in the first month were exceeded by 50%. The pilot project will soon be followed by the next bk World locations on Lake Constance and in Austria. By the end of 2025, the filling stations of the future are to be established at 300 locations in the DACH region. The bk Group has designed the charging parks in such a way that they can be set up, dismantled and modualar expanded almost anywhere.
